Founder

Like many young hockey players, the founder of Wally Strength & Conditioning grew up chasing a familiar dream—working hard, competing at the highest level possible, and seeing where the game could take him. Through years of dedication, he climbed the ranks of elite hockey, playing junior hockey, finishing Top 10 in league scoring, and earning the opportunity to compete at the University of Ottawa.

At 21 years old, faced with partial U.S. scholarship offers that weren’t financially viable, he made a life-changing decision. He left home for the first time to play professional hockey overseas in Spain. What began as a leap of faith quickly became a defining experience—he finished as the league’s top scorer and helped his team win a championship. That season opened the door to new opportunities, including Division 1 hockey in France and later a season in Australia, where he finished fourth in league scoring, received an honourable mention for league MVP, and helped his team reach the finals.

Just as another professional opportunity in France awaited, adversity struck. A torn ACL sidelined him for a full year, forcing him away from the game and into uncertainty. Unsure if his playing career was over, he returned home and took a government job. Then one unexpected phone call changed everything—an opportunity to play in Marseille, France. Seeing it as a second chance, he returned to the game and, at 27 years old, chose to retire on his own terms after a career that took him across the world and exposed him to unforgettable cultures, challenges, and experiences.

Returning home again, he realized that what he loved most about hockey wasn’t just playing—it was helping others improve. In the spring of 2019, that realization turned into action when a parent asked if he could train his son and a few friends. With just seven athletes, no fancy facility, and a genuine desire to help young players grow, Wally Strength & Conditioning was born.

Since that first summer, the program has grown into a high-performance development environment home to elite youth, junior, collegiate, and professional athletes. While the results are impressive, the mission has remained the same: to provide young athletes with professional-level preparation, mentorship, and standards—while developing the character, confidence, and resilience that last far beyond the rink.

At its core, Wally Strength & Conditioning exists to help athletes pursue their passion, embrace the journey, and realize there is more than one way to live the dream.
