Mathis began his journey with Wally Strength & Conditioning in 2020 as an athlete with a clear vision of competing in collegiate golf. His dedication paid off in 2021 when he moved to Texas to join the University of Mary Hardin–Baylor, where he competed for three years as a Division III golfer. Prior to this, Mathis attended Louis Riel High School, where he spent four years in the golf program and was named Athlete of the Year in his senior season.
As a junior golfer, Mathis consistently performed at a high level, earning top-10 finishes at the Quebec Boys Junior Provincial Championships and the Quebec Men’s Provincial Championship, and reaching the semi-finals at the Quebec Boys Match Play Championship. Alongside his competitive career, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning, solidifying his passion for high-performance training. He officially joined the WSC coaching staff in the summer of 2024.
Mathis continued his education in Texas, completing a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology while serving as a graduate research assistant in the Human Performance Lab. During this time, he gained hands-on experience in strength and conditioning across a wide range of sports. In Fall 2025, he assumed full responsibility for the women’s soccer team during the head coach’s leave, and in Spring 2026 completed an athletic performance internship at the University of Texas at Austin, supporting track and field, golf, and cheer and pom.
Mathis holds his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification through the NSCA and joined Wally Strength & Conditioning full-time in May 2026. Having competed at the collegiate level himself, he brings firsthand understanding of the standards, discipline, and attention to detail required to succeed. As a coach, Mathis applies those same principles to help athletes build confidence, consistency, and long-term performance.
